Training on Rock Walls Has Never Been So Accessible!

At Roca Norte, we make it possible for climbers of all levels to train on real rock walls right here on our island. It’s the perfect place to start a structured training plan that helps you develop your skills and achieve your climbing goals.

We offer two main types of training based on the style of climbing and your experience level:

  • Top Rope Training
  • Lead Climbing Training

Top Rope Training

To enroll in Top Rope Training, participants (kids or adults) must first complete our Guided Climbing service, which is designed for beginners. That’s the only requirement.

Once completed, you can sign up for Top Rope Training by purchasing hour packages (e.g., 6 hours, 8 hours) to be used within one calendar month.

During this training, participants learn:

  1. How to warm up and stretch properly
  2. How to tie climbing knots
  3. Basic safety principles
  4. Fundamental climbing techniques—how to grip and step efficiently on the rock, practice movements to overcome challenges, and improve climbing control
  5. How to enhance climbing performance
  6. Mock leading techniques (preparation for Lead Training)
  7. Understanding the Yosemite Decimal System (YDS) difficulty grades
  8. How to complete routes up to 5.10b difficulty

Anyone over the age of 13 who completes these requirements will be ready to take the Sport Climbing Course.

Lead Climbing Training

To enroll in Lead Climbing Training, participants (ages 13+) must first complete Top Rope Training and the Sport Climbing Course.

Alternatively, experienced climbers who already know all essential skills—lead climbing, lead belaying, top rope belaying, cleaning anchors, and rappelling—and who have climbed within the last six months may register directly.

If it’s been more than six months since your last climb or you feel you need extra practice, you can take a refresher course by purchasing additional hour packages.

Like Top Rope Training, Lead Training requires purchasing hour packages (e.g., 6 hours, 8 hours) to be used within one calendar month.

During Lead Climbing Training, participants:

  1. Practice lead climbing while managing their own safety
  2. Do mock leading on routes they want to master
  3. Demonstrate responsibility with safety protocols
  4. Set personal goals—whether it’s recreation, conquering tougher routes, enjoying nature, building endurance, increasing strength, or simply improving overall climbing skills

Why Roca Norte?

Roca Norte was created to give everyone the opportunity to climb regularly, not just for fun but with purpose—whether it’s fitness, personal growth, or achieving climbing milestones.

After all, what better way to burn calories, build strength and agility, and recharge mentally than on real limestone walls that keep you coming back for more?

With 41 climbing routes ranging from beginner-friendly to advanced, Roca Norte offers challenges for every level—plenty of room to grow, learn, and enjoy the sport of climbing.
